Port Adelaide’s ADF Veterans program has been listed as a finalist for the Australian Defence Industry Awards for the veteran support program of the year.
The prestigious nation-wide awards program is dedicated to recognising the top businesses and professionals within the defence industry and features over 200 finalists across 27 submission-based categories.
The program’s acknowledgement as a finalist signifies an unwavering commitment to playing an important role within the defence industry, with winners set to be announced at a black-tie gala on Thursday, 10 July.
The program, run by the club’s charity arm Power Community Limited (PCL), draws on the similarities of transitioning from high-performance environments and sees ex AFL players and ADF veterans come together to re-identify a sense of purpose and community.
Delivered over a six-week period, the outcomes seek to address challenges associated with transition, mental health, wellbeing, and relationships.
The program provides regular education sessions and connection activities, including an alumni network, and has been booked out since inception.
After receiving a significant funding boost from Veterans SA in 2024, PCL invested in the program’s expansion and Defence community through the implementation of a program to support ADF families, providing volunteering opportunities within the Port Adelaide football program, a yearly subscription to the Calm app and dedicated breathwork workshops.
