Port Adelaide is proud to announce a new partnership between the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and the club’s not-for-profit Empowered program, delivered by Power Community Limited (PCL).

The collaboration forms part of CITB’s Trade Up campaign, which is designed to attract new apprentices to the building and construction industry, and builds on CITB’s ongoing support of the club’s AFL and AFLW programs.

Strategically aligned with PCL’s annual Empowered leadership event, the partnership will support an initiative that brings together more than 250 young women from secondary schools across South Australia.

The event marks the culmination of the Empowered program, which aims to equip the next generation of female leaders with the tools to build a strong sense of self and challenge traditional gender stereotypes.

The one-day leadership event features a series of inspirational women from a range of industries who share their personal career journeys.

As part of the new partnership, a CITB representative will present to students at the event about the benefits of apprenticeships, with a focus on the broad career opportunities available to women in the construction industry.

General Manager of Power Community Limited, Jake Battifuoco, said the partnership is a natural fit.

“We’re very proud to partner with CITB, particularly given the alignment with our Empowered program,” Mr. Battifuoco said.

“The natural synergy between our organisations, especially in creating career pathways for young people, has created a strong platform for our partnership.

“We look forward to welcoming CITB to our annual leadership event and engaging students in the exciting opportunities a career in construction can offer.”

CITB CEO Holly Willcox said the company was excited to partner with PCL’s Empowered program.

"CITB are proud to be part of the Empowered program, which strongly aligns with CITB’s strategic goals,” Ms Willcox said.

“We are committed to celebrating and supporting young women as they build confidence, form meaningful connections, and grow into future leaders.

“Programs like this play a powerful role in creating lasting change - helping young women recognise their potential and equipping them with the tools to thrive in their lives, communities and careers.

“It’s truly inspiring to be part of a program that is shaping a more inclusive and empowered future."
