Port Adelaide’s not-for-profit arm, Power Community Limited (PCL), has been celebrated for its work with young South Australians, receiving the Community Service Award at the South Australian Child Protection and Family Support Awards.

The honour recognises the impact PCL has had on young people in care across metropolitan, regional, and remote South Australia, and comes during National Child Protection Week – a week dedicated to raising awareness and encouraging collective action to prevent child abuse and neglect.

For nearly 20 years, PCL has delivered programs that harness the power of sport, and utilise AFL and AFLW player voices, to create meaningful social change.

The evidence- informed programs are designed to build skills, resilience, and connections - empowering young people to shape their future and contribute to a more just, inclusive, and equitable society.

General Manager of PCL, Jake Battifuoco said he was grateful for the recognition and ongoing support from the Department for Child Protection.

“We’re extremely proud of our programs delivered to young people across the state and are grateful to receive recognition through the South Australian Child Protection and Family Support Awards,” Mr Battifuoco said.

“The award is a reflection of our passionate team and generous partners who contribute to collective social impact across the state.

“Our mission is to use the power of sport to build better communities by advancing social and educational outcomes, and we recognise that supporting children in care is a very important part of that.

“Each year we engage around 30,000 young people across South Australia and are committed to growing that reach in the years ahead.”
